Blessed Christmas, Everyone

I promised to be nice and polite in my last blog, but I think I blew it, didn't I?

So, here's wishing everyone a very good time at Christmas and momentous minutes heralding 2008!

Amongst all the booze and living it up, shall we remember the true meaning of Christmas? That the Son of God became flesh and dwelt among us so that He truly shares our temptations, our hurts and pain, and our troubles; and ultimately, He died on the cross for us so that we may have eternal life.

Ho ho ho, I see Father Christmas coming down my chimney......................... have fun, everyone.

Malaysia Boleh.... errr.... K L Boleh!

it's xmas so i have to be nice and polite.

who says Malaysia Boleh coinage is crap! it rings true every time one gets onto the road especially in KL. Nowhere else in the civilised world do people mimic those in "French Connection" or "Speed" movies, or imagine that they are Evel Knievel. I know Evel died recently and many people are trying to claim his spot, but I hadn't realised that they are mostly Malaysians.

Mr Fatface thinks he owns the road and decides to change lanes without so much as a look (forget about the indicator, he doesn't know what or where it is) - he knows you will swerve and ram into the embankment but who cares, he gets his way, that's all that counts. and to top it all, he's gleefully chatting away on his mobile, probably to his mistress who thinks the sun rises and shines out from him.

Mrs Back-of-a-bus face is not much better. she puts on the indicator (hooray), but only just one second before she turns! and if you honk her, she gives you this "I'm innocent, how dare you bully me" look.

We should have a traffic law enabling people to sue the other for heartburns - then again, do we want to bulge up the lawyers' already fat wallets....hmm... i reckon bullbar bumpers is the better solution.

Oh well, I think we should invite Mr Bean to lighten it all up by making "Mr Bean in Malaysia : the Traffic Movie" - he will have enough material to fill 6 hours worth of airtime.

WOMAN

You have not got it wrong, Mr Asohan of The Star!

Many women today are strong a.k.a. driven, intelligent, independent. just pick up any of the women's monthly magazines and read of the many women profiles featured - well, not all, but many many of them are in real-life who the articles portray them to be.

And these same women are also sensitive and strong - these same women have full respect for men, and the institution of marriage and fidelity. they may get tempted, they may even lose their way on that dark, lonely night and fall blindly into another man's arms, but that is just an aberration. everyone is allowed to make a mistake or two - it doesn't make them any less human and it shouldn't earn them the 'adulterous' tag, should it?

You are talking about a very small minority of 'bad apples' who are uncaring, insensitive, and go all out to 'do what the men do' just to prove that there is equality. and I am talking about 0.001% of the female population - as they say, there's always a black sheep in the family. surely it doesn't tar the whole family's image.

3 ugly sisters

Remember Cinderella's ugly stepsisters?

It's a bit different in real life, right? 3 sisters could come from the same womb, share the same blood, but could be totally different people.

number one could be Miss Fearful - never venturing far alone, never game enough to try something new.

number two is the complete opposite, Miss Wants - relishes time alone, wants all the luxuries that life can give, always game to try new things, and full of an inquisitive mind to explore and learn. after all, we never stop learning, even when we are 102.

number three, Miss I-Have-Enough, is afraid of what she really wants - so she hides behind what little she has and pretends that she will be happy with just enough; perhaps because she doesn't want to feel the disappointment and frustration of not having, and the stress of having to go after what she really wants.

so which sister is the better for it? which sister is the happier?

time of giving

don't you love the spirit of giving during this time of the year, evidenced by the phenomenal masses of people at shopping complexes and some of the junk that get snapped up by customers who just want to spend, spend, spend.

I reckon it's the best time of the year for merchants because they can display old stocks and know for sure they will be cleared - just put up a big sign that says "SALE" - magic of christmas?

on a more serious note, it is wonderful to see people from all walks of life, all religions and races, having one common spirit - buying xmas presents and goodies to give away to friends and relatives.

for us christians, it's also a time of forgiving and thanksgiving. so, I forgive you, you and you. and i thank you, you and you.

i remember when the kids were growing up, we used to visit all the hotels in town to take in the lavish and grand xmas decorations and lights.

and come christmas eve, the kids and I would always go for xmas eve lunch - just me and the kids, and sometimes, when she can, Stella would join us with Andrew and Lowrie. the daddies were of course either too busy at work, or having themselves a good time getting comfortably drunk at the pub. those were good ol' days - miss them.

i would urge all parents to make christmas a memorable time for their growing kids. they grow up too fast, and soon, they will not have time nor want to be with you during christmas as they will have their own life and family. but they will always remember and think about the christmases they have had when they were young, and I pray, will pass on the tradition to their children - and the memories will carry on.

God loves the children so much - look at who Father Christmas brings presents to!

so, let's go spend and buy up the shops....... spoil the kids.... they are kids only once in their lifetime.

Merry Christmas to all.....

Tis the time of the year

Tis christmas, a time of giving, of sharing, of remembering, of thankfulness to God for giving us Jesus Christ.

Tis a month where no one really works, which is why all the shopping complexes are perpetually crowded, day and night. I for one, admittedly, have no inkling towards serious work this month. And so when I trawl the shopping centres, I see all the familiar faces - people whom I meet in the course of business - except they are walking around with their families, friends and having a grand time. I guess it's the time of the year where everyone starts to wind down, take stock, and plan for the new year. Or do they? I don't - C'est la vie, my motto.

So what have we achieved this past year?

What is in store for us next year? we know our elections are coming; we know there will probably be more natural disasters, more diseases that are discovered, more cures for incurable diseases, and of course, someone will come out with a radical theory that we shouldn't eat eggs because they are this or that.......

Time flies - at the blink of an eye, my children are grown up, and may I say proudly, grown up the correct way. having conversations with them about their childhood brings up revelations that are interesting - just goes to show that children see the world around them in a different way to adults. amazing! All parents should communicate and talk to their kids when they are grown up, and explore the impressions that have registered.
